Think back to your most productive day in the past weeks. Now ask yourself, what did you have for lunch that day? And what was the portion size? Food is rarely given consideration when assessing workplace performance. Food is simply fuel, right? Well, the analogy is a bit misleading. Because with fuel, you can reliably expect the same performance from your car. Food is different. Imagine a world where filing up at X gas station meant avoiding all traffic and using Y gas station meant driving no faster than 50 km/hr. Would you then be so cavalier about where you purchased your gas? Most of us know healthy eating intuitively, yet, we don’t always make smart decisions about our diet. What to do? One thing we must certainly shouldn’t do is assume that better information will motivate us to change. Most of us are aware that scarfing down a fluffy pizza is not a good life decision. But that doesn’t make it any less delicious. It’s not more awareness that we need, but a plan that makes brainy eating easier to accomplish.
